DNR warns hikers, bikers to avoid muddy trails for nature’s sake

LANSING, MICH. — The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is asking outdoor enthusiasts to heed some advice this spring: “Muddy day? Please don’t play.”

Walking, biking and horseback riding on muddy trails destroys the trail’s surface, contributing to erosion and creating hard-to-fix trails, the DNR says.

The rule of thumb? If you are leaving visible bicycle ruts, deep footprints or hoof tracks, the trail is too muddy for recreation… More about this article in the link below…
